Focus on Logan Square

Domain Realty founder Adam Wavrunek on the attractions of the fast rising Logan Square neighborhood

Q: What do you like best about Logan Square? Why do you feel like it’s a prime neighborhood for home buyers?

A: Convenience is one. The fact we’re right near 90/94, you can get downtown and out to the suburbs easily. And there are two El train stops.

Affordability, relative to other neighborhoods in Chicago, is another reason. It’s that unique combination of convenience and affordability. If you go one or two train stops east or south, you would paying almost double for a similar property.

And then you’ve got the cultural diversity. There is a great mix of people that live in the area, and as a result, it always stays interesting with the collection of new restaurants and stores, while also being home to businesses that have been here for 10 years or more. It’s not very commercialized either, which is nice.

And it can’t be overlooked that Logan Square has a good housing stock, especially along and around the boulevard system, in addition to Kedzie. There is a nice mix of older, well-preserved homes to go with some newer, modern, efficient, LEED-certified ones as well.

There are a lot of opportunities to get in and get a good, solid home in the low $100s in a neighborhood with culture, restaurants and access to transportation. There are so many good investment opportunities to be had.
