You just moved into your new office in Logan Square, a neighborhood everyone seems to be talking about these days. What is it about Logan Square that makes it the next hot area in Chicago?
Domain Realty’s Adam Wavrunek: I can still remember when the Starbucks came in on the corner of Logan Boulevard and California. At the time they were considered by some to be pioneers of sorts! Since then, and particularly in the last five years, there has been an explosion of new restaurants, bars and stores. This has made Logan Square more of a destination for people from other parts of the city and more convenient for people who live here.
One of the factors contributing to the popularity of Logan Square is value relative to other popular neighborhoods in Chicago. For the price you’d be paying for a condo in Wicker Park or Lakeview, you can purchase a single-family home in Logan Square. Now, that’s not true in every part of Logan Square anymore, but overall, the neighborhood is still a great value when being compared to other areas.
Logan Square also offers a good variety of housing stock. You can find anything from a 100-year-old row house to a new-construction, high-efficiency, Leed-certified home. Homes are available in several different price points, too, making it easy for different types of buyers to find exactly what they’re looking for.
Buyers also like the access to transportation with two blue line stops, several bus routes and quick access to 90/94.
Finally, the people in Logan Square make it great. It’s a very diverse group of people here who take great pride in the neighborhood and the changes that have happened.
We have a lot of creative people here, too, who have come up with some great food, drink and art concepts you don’t see in a lot of other places in the city. You can really feel the creative energy in Logan Square.
